Drain Cleaning

When deciding how to approach the drain cleaning, there are two way choices to decide between – the drain snake or the hydro jet. Both are great options for any drain in your house. Whether your toilet, shower, or sink is clogged, either method can get the job done.

Drain snake

The drain snake is the most commonly used of the two methods for minor to intermediately clogged drains. The drain snake is a device that has a metal rod that goes down the shower, sink or toilet drain and breaks up whatever may be clogging the pipe. This method of drain cleaning is great for taking care clogging brought on by the collection of hair, food, or non-disposable products.  The drain snake is also great for dealing with older and weaker pipes that may be sensitive to mass amounts of force or pressure. Unfortunately, because of its lack of mass amounts of force and pressure, the drain snake isn’t the best option for major blockades in clogged drains. As well as not being the most forceful option, the drain snake also isn’t the best option for dealing with wider sewer drains. The metal rod is thin and narrow compared to the larger sewer drain, and because of this, the drain snake is seen as more of a temporary fix that will won’t last as long as the hydro jet. With that being said, if you’re dealing with a minor clogged drain, then this is the perfect option for you.

Hydro jetting

Of the two methods, Hydro jetting is the most effective option to go with. While being the more expensive method of drain cleaning, it’s worth the price due to the amount of force that the hydro jet uses to take care of any clogged drain pipe. By using pressurized jets of water, the hydro jet can unclog drains with ease. No matter the severity of the clogging, the hydro jet delivers enough force to break through when cleaning drains. The hydro jet is also great for larger sewer drain cleaning. The force that the hydro jet uses, removes grease build up on the pipes to clear a wider path for the water to flow. Unfortunately, due to its use of mass amounts of force, the hydro jet isn’t a good option for dealing with older pipes that may be fragile and could be further damaged by the pressurized water.
